Clinical Trials

Clinical Trials

Since its inception, the Center has participated in Center-generated and multicenter national/international clinical trials. Clinical trials in Hawaii are accessible through community hospitals, physician offices, and local outpatient cancer clinics.

Cooperative Group Trials

The Center provides national cooperative clinical trials through a Minority-Based Community Clinical Oncology Program. The Program is funded by the National Cancer Institute. Taking part in the Program has given people in Hawaii access to the best standard treatment and an opportunity for improved care.

Industry-Initiated and Investigator-Initiated Trials

The Center also conducts industry-initiated and investigator-initiated clinical trials. They are supported by the UH Cancer Center and are led by Principal Investigators who are faculty members of the Center. The trials are conducted at various clinical sites in our community. Innovative investigational new drugs under development by pharmaceutical companies are investigated in cancer types common to the local population.
