Please join us to help accelerate cancer cures through research in Hawaiʻi by supporting our work. Every year, more than 6,700 residents of Hawaiʻi are diagnosed with cancer. Sadly the disease is the second leading cause of death in Hawaiʻi, after cardiovascular disease, with more than 2,200 people dying. Unfortunately, there is not enough federal funding available for all the research needed to discover new therapies, offer better treatment options and ultimately find cures. Thankfully, individual philanthropic gifts play a significant role in advancing cancer research at the UH Cancer Center. All of the funds stay in Hawaiʻi and are used for laboratory studies, new drug discoveries, state of the art equipment and clinical trials.

With your help, not only can we continue to explore promising new frontiers, but we can ensure that exciting studies already in progress continue. Your contributions help bridge gaps not fully supported through grant funding, and allow us to create a healthier future for the people of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific.

There are many ways to give, such as outright gifts, planned gifts/estate gifts, annual gifts, securities, endowments, etc. all of which offer tax or estate-planning advantages. For more information on these options, please call Lynne Wooddell, director of development at (808) 356-5757 or email at This email address is being protected from spambots. Sidney Kosasa Donor Wall

The open space next to the Sullivan Conference Center is known as the Sidney Kosasa Kahua Launa. The display "For those we love" is made possible by the family of Sidney Kosasa who never forgot his employees or his community no matter how successful he became. In that spirit, the family asked to underwrite this recognition wall that honors loved ones and donors who have contributed to the Cancer Center. The family invites others to join them in supporting the important research being conducted here at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center.
