Collaborating Partners

The Community Outreach and Engagement Office works to collaborate with community partners to facilitate cancer research and control efforts to better serve the population. These partners include Hawaiʻi Cancer Consortium, Friends of the UH Cancer Center, Hawaiʻi Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition, The Hawaiʻi Skin Cancer Coalition, Ke Ola Mamo, University of Guam, American Samoa Community Cancer Coalition.

The Friends of the UH Cancer Center is a non-profit organization with the goal to generate community support for Cancer Center research, educate the people of Hawaiʻi on cancer prevention, and to improve the quality of life of those diagnosed with cancer.


Hawaiʻi Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition

Hawaii State Cancer Plan 2030

The Hawaiʻi Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition is dedicated to the implementation of the Hawaiʻi State Cancer Plan, utilizing data from the Hawaiʻi Tumor Registry. The plan spans prevention, screening, treatment, quality of life, data, and research, and is developed with substantial input and critical leadership from UH Cancer Center members.


The Hawaiʻi Skin Cancer Coalition

The Hawaiʻi Skin Cancer Coalition is a collaborative effort between local organizations including the UH Cancer Center, to provide clear, comprehensible information on skin cancer prevention and early detection, as well as treatment options for both the public and health professionals.

UH Cancer Center researcher, Kevin Cassel, DrPH, contributed to the report, Review of Fate, Exposure and Effects of Sunscreens in Aquatic Environments and Implications for Sunscreen Usage and Human Health.


Ke Ola Mamo

Ke Ola Mamo, Oahu’s Native Hawaiian Health Care System, provides services to the Native Hawaiian Community. The UH Cancer Center has partnered with Ke Ola Mamo since 2010 to improve the health and well-being of Native Hawaiian men through the Kū Ola Project.

University of Guam

The University of Guam and the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center collaborate through the Pacific Island Partnership for Cancer Health Equity (PIPCHE), to mitigate the impact of cancer on Pacific Islanders through cancer research, career training, and community outreach.


American Samoa Community Cancer Coalition
