Research Focus

My primary research interests have long focused on the contribution of lifestyle (particularly dietary factors, and more recently, genetic susceptibility factors) to the etiology of cancer in ethnically diverse and migrant populations; and on how this knowledge can contribute to the primary prevention of cancer. Most of my work in the past several years has utilized the resources of the Multiethnic Cohort Study, which I initiated with colleagues in 1993, and which continues to make notable contributions to the advancement of epidemiologic research on cancer and other chronic diseases.
